Experiences at LF Jungle Retreat

Discover the Essence of Jamaica

At Mockingbird Hotel, we offer a variety of unique experiences designed to immerse you in the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Port Antonio.

Whether you are an avid birdwatcher, a nature lover, or a cultural explorer, our curated activities promise to make your stay unforgettable

BLUE LAGOON

The Blue Lagoon is a small cove whose jewel-like colours change from sapphire blues to turquoise green throughout the day and is one of Jamaica’s most scenic spots.

The lagoon is 55 metres deep and is fed by many tiny ice-cold underground mineral springs and the warm Caribbean Sea – it makes for glorious swimming and makes inspiring photography with the intensity of its jewel like colours.

Currently the best way to access the Lagoon is by boat. We can help arrange this for you

REICH FALLS

Reich Falls is one of the area’s most captivating natural wonders and is a short drive from Mockingbird Hill. Recognized as one of the most beautiful natural waterfalls of Jamaica.

Reich Falls (pronounced Reach) is off the tourist beaten track and offer a stunning series of cascades which tumble over limestone tiers from one hollowed, jade-coloured pool to another, some deep enough for diving.

Just under a kilometre’s hike up river through is the 400 metre long Mandingo Cave with a whirlpool, ideal for wading.

LONG BAY

Long Bay has one of the most dramatic settings in Jamaica. The crescent-shaped bay has white sand, deep turquoise waters, and strong breezes that make it a consistent surf spot on the island.

This is a wonderful Jamaican beach for romantic walks. The undertow often rules out swimming here but it’s great for bouncing about in the waves and some lazy sunbathing. There are a few beach-side eateries here as well.

FRENCHMAN'S COVE

Rated as one of the 3 best Jamaican beaches, Frenchman’s Cove is the closest beach to Mockingbird Hill. It is just a 5 minute drive away. A small cove surrounded by lush vegetation, it is also fed by a mineral spring.

The cold stream winds lazily down into cove. Take a dip in the sea, then in the refreshing stream and take a stroll through the lovely, tropical gardens.

There is a snack bar, restrooms and a secure parking lot. There is an entrance fee to use this beach.

WINNIFRED BEACH

Winnifred Beach is a secluded golden-sand crescent and it is one of Jamaica’s best public beaches.

During the week this beach is often yours alone and on the weekends you can enjoy the lively Jamaican atmosphere.

The calm, crystal clear waters and the white sand beach invite swimming and sunbathing. Local cuisine is served at a number of beachside eateries. An offshore coral reef provides good snorkelling.

SAN SAN BEACH

San San is perfect for swimming and snorkelling, the water is warm and shallow and you can swim to the tiny offshore islet Pellew Island.

BOSTON BEACH

The overriding reason to stop at Boston Beach is for the well-known Boston Jerk, but if you fancy surfing then this is the best beach.

It is highly popular among surfers as tides are often higher than other locations on the island.

You can rent surfing boards and take lessons from a local entrepreneur.

RAFTING ON  RIO GRANDE

Your rafting trip will begin in the village of Berridale and end at Rafter’s Rest, St. Margaret’s Bay on the coast. The nearly two and a half hour journey down the Rio Grande winds through rainforests and farmland on a thirty-foot raft steered expertly by a local ‘captain’.

You’ll be able to experience rural Jamaican life along the Rio Grande riverbanks and stop for a quick swim along the way. Have a traditional Jamaican lunch to die for: Coconut Curried Crayfish at the rustic Belinda’s Riverside Eatery.
